State Licensure of Prescription Drug Distributors

HDMA firmly supports a uniform system of licensing regulation nationwide that meets the federal licensing mandate established under the Prescription Drug Marketing Act and preserves the integrity of the drug healthcare distribution system. HDMA encourages states to include drug healthcare distributors in the regulatory process on matters pertaining to licensure. This will ensure that the appropriate expertise needed to address the complexities of healthcare distribution is available and that fairness and uniformity are maintained.

HDMA also believes that all healthcare distribution of prescription drugs should be licensed under the PDMA to ensure the integrity of the product and the distribution process throughout the United States. HDMA will encourage regulatory authorities to license all facilities where there is long-term storage and distribution of prescription products consistent with current PDMA requirements.
